The Season 2 opening of Underverse was initially released as a teaser for Underverse Season 2 before XTale IX released. The animation features XGaster and the XTale cast descending towards Undertale. The next few shots include Classic!Frisk confronting XGaster, and then shows the XTale cast: Alphys, Asriel, Asgore, Toriel, Muffet, Undyne, Chara and Frisk, Mettaton, and Papyrus, followed by the heart locket falling on the ground.
Next, Cross is seen in XTale, before it switches to him in the Omega Timeline, followed by him turning around and seeing XGaster's hands reaching out for him. Multiple AU characters are shown next: Core!Frisk, Error, Geno, Fatal_Error, Dream, Nightmare, while scenes of XTale and Underverse Season 1 flash by, followed by Killer, Fresh (with Fresh!Ink hidden behind him), and Ink. Cross wields his two new knives, and it switches back to a confrontation between XGaster and Classic!Frisk, before it shows shots of Classic!Sans and the rest of the Undertale cast, and finishes with a shot of Classic!Frisk with the SAVE button accompanied by XChara.
The animation is set to an updated version of "Alternation" by NyxTheShield.

- The version of the opening released separately is actually incomplete, as Jakei forgot to include Classic!Alphys when she originally created the opening.
- In Underverse 0.7 Part 1, the opening was changed so that Ink!Sans would be wearing his redesigned outfit that would debut later in the episode.
- The version of Alternation originally released on YouTube is an old version of the track, with the version used in the opening being the version from the Underverse - Second Chance album.
- Underverse 0.7 Part 2 and beyond use a remastered version of Alternation.
